It's hard to get excited about buying any stock these days, but Omniture, Inc. (Public, NASDAQ:OMTR) has got my attention after landing a marketing deal with the all powerful Baidu.com Inc. (NASDAQ:BIDU). Sure shares of Omniture are down 32% since last December, but the lower they fall, the better the entry point for vultures like me.
Yesterday Jefferies Analyst Youssef Squali upgraded Omniture to "Buy" from "Hold." He wrote that while the stock still isn't cheap, "we recommend Omniture for investors with a longer time horizon, given the market opportunity, Omniture's leadership position, breadth of offerings and strong execution." Sure, sure, buy now, take it in the shorts, but it will come back. We've heard this before haven't we? It's the story of the week, but Omniture may not fall that much more.
This deal with Baidu.com is huge, remember that Baidu.com had 73.6% of Chinese search traffic in the third quarter of 2007, according to Omniture's bells and whistles. The companies are combining their technologies which will allow marketers a breakdown of how Chinese Internet users are influenced by online marketing. Thus how can everyone make more money from Baidu.com, and little ol' Omniture is going to help them.
Omniture, Inc. (NASDAQ:OMTR) had a decent run and it's price has finally come back down to a reasonable entry point:
Today shares of OMTR are right back down thanks to the market tanking, so the good news yesterday has already brought the stock down 3%. Shares of Omniture, Inc. are now just over $21 and I like those odds.
So what does Omniture do and how to they make money?
Omniture’s software, delivered to customers through hosted, on-demand services, helps companies manage online, multi-channel and off-line business initiatives without costly investments in IT infrastructure. They allow their customers to leverage the Internet to increase revenues, improve customer service and operational efficiency -- bottom line, make more from the web.
Omniture’s has landed the following clients in the past ten years including AOL, eBay, GM, Hewlett Packard, MSNShopping, Sears, Time and Wal-Mart.
