Day Of The Dead Gift Shop Raise Funds For Breast Cancer Research And Celebrate 13th Year In Business

Founded by cancer survivor Toni, BlueLips.com is an eclectic online shop characterized by morbid and grimly satiric humor and yet educational beyond the realm of obscure that is celebrating its 13th year of success in the business.

Certain people are fascinated by the mystery of the darkness and find the unusual and the morbid appealing. Appreciation for distinctively odd forms of artistry and being drawn to strange and death-related topics or things is, to some, nothing short of an artistic expression.

Helping the cause by donating 25% of profits to breast cancer research, BlueLips.com is a website that sells all sorts of weird and morbid items for visitors who are curious to venture into the unusual stream of darkness. The roots of BlueLips.com can be traced back in 1999, when founder Toni, a cancer patient, turned her own impending death into a business that deals in the subject of death.

While faced with a grim diagnosis of breast cancer, Toni began receiving phone calls from local funeral homes in her area, who asked her about preparing for her death. "I was absolutely devastated and felt incredibly violated". Toni, a fan of Jessica Mitford’s book "The American Way of Death" that exposes the questionable practices of some funeral directors, decided it was time to stand up and fight, her way.

“I was having chemo one day and I hallucinated about a skull with blue lips, then it came to me that a great domain for the business would be BlueLips.com” Toni noted. "In my wildest dreams I didn't know if there would be a market for a business whose slogan is ‘one-stop shopping for morbid minds’ and ‘if your lips aren't red, you must be dead,’ but we found out that because of shows like 'Six Feet Under,' our niche could thrive and it has," she added.

Thirteen successful years later, BlueLips.com is reaping success with its various products that please the oddly curious. Since its inception, the online shop for morbid humor has become a real conversation piece. From starting only as video store, it has expanded to books and constantly added in new items as customers have requested. New items include a new section dedicated for Anubis Statuary items as well as Day of the Dead Celebration folk art.

BlueLips.com offers a wide range of novelty and specialty items like Do-it-yourself Embalming Kit; collectible Rare coroner’s wagon model and autopsy DVDs. Other delightful offerings from BlueLips.com include a huge selection of skull, gargoyle, grim reaper, Egyptian and other fine collectible statuary including Jessica Mitford collectibles and Alfred Packer's Cannibal Spicy Ketchup.

In addition to managing BlueLips.com, the staff members of the website are active members of the Funeral Consumers Alliance and pro-consumer activists who help consumers in times of grief to make cost effective choices that are both fiscally and environmentally responsible. Toni, the Founder, has been interviewed in the documentary “Flight From Death”, has appeared on Penn and Teller Bullshit Season Two, “Death Inc” and several radio shows.

This October people who are into the morbid, the dark and the gloomy can turn to http://bluelips.com for a plethora of items that have for 13 years, satisfied their interest and curiosity.
