Comparator urges drivers to consider winter tyres in the UK as well as in ski destinations to ensure safety


As the weather is forecast to turn colder, with snow predicted before the clocks go back, leading car hire price comparison website Carrentals.co.uk is advising UK drivers to consider fitting winter tyres on their own cars, as well as when booking car hire overseas.

In the UK last winter, companies such as Kwik Fit actually sold out of winter tyres due to the harsh winter conditions, underlining the growing demand from British drivers for improved grip on potentially treacherous roads.

Carrentals.co.uk already advises its ski customers to reserve winter tyres and snow chains at the time of booking, however with UK winters appearing to get worse, the company is recommending UK drivers consider winter tyres if snow and ice is forecast.

When renting a car, winter tyres and snow chains are classed as an added extra by most car hire suppliers, but with many customers expecting these to be included at ski destinations, skiers can often end up organising them on collection, resulting in higher costs or no availability.
