Investors watch earnings releases keenly, as changes in a company’s performance can be a good indication whether a company is on the right track, or headed the wrong way.

TAM S.A. (TAM) is scheduled to release its earnings results Thursday. The company currently has an earnings per share ratio (EPS trailing twelve months) of -5.34 and investors are hoping to see that number change. In the past three months, the stock has posted a 19.18% gain in terms of stock price. Over the same period, the Major Airlines industry group has returned a combined 3.33% gain.

So the eyes of investors turn to this new round of earnings.

TAM is in the Major Airlines industry group where it competes for investor dollars with companies like China Eastern Airlines Corp. Ltd. (CEA), which released its earnings on 08/10 and last reported a 651.78% gain in quarter-over-quarter EPS.

Another industry peer, China Southern Airlines Co. Ltd. (ZNH) released its earnings on 10/28 and last reported a -96.94% decline in QOQ EPS.

Delta Air Lines Inc. (DAL) is the stock with the biggest market cap in the Major Airlines industry at $6.03B. It closed yesterday at $7.73
